The humongous size of the first smart contract enabled blockchain network needs direction and reviews of what they have done and what’s need to be done further
On April 15th, 2022, Ethereum Core Dev Meeting took place where high-profile developers Ethereum network discussed the upcoming phases of the Shanghai upgrade and pre-Merge testing. A former researcher at Coindesk and currently at Galaxy Digital, Christine Kim wrote on Twitter while sharing some details of the conclusion of a conference of Ethereum developers that happened on Friday regarding its pre-merge testnet in the last stage.
It came to know that developers have analyzed recent pioneering manned shadow fork results and then decided to organize two more similar updates in the upcoming week on Ethereum mainnet and Goerli testnet. After all this, developer and EF researcher Tim Beiko proposed to fork Ropsten Testnet and, after its being done for once, the Sepolia and Goerli networks. Therefore Rinkeby testnet should be abandoned by all the dApps which are still using its infrastructure.
The recent conference of Ethereum Core Devs will no longer have plans to accept proposals for the Shanghai hard fork. It’s the first-ever hard fork of a post-merger network that is planned to take place in the first six months of Ethereum 2.0, having proof of stakes.
As mentioned in several reports earlier, the upgrade will consist of introducing EOF or EVM Object Format, which is a new type of smart contract and will also have other important improvements.
Ms. Kim, although, has shared no updates on the timing of The Merge as it remained unclear when the ‘Difficulty Bomb’ of the Ethereum (ETH) network will face a delay next time. However, it turned out that quarter three remains the target. On 13th April 2022, Tim Beiko made an announcement that migration of the Ethereum network to proof of stakes would not start in June, but it will after a few months.
